2023 will begin with the release of “I Rest My Case” by NBA Youngboy.
NBA Youngboy was certainly the rapper that had the best grasp on 2022. Despite staying quiet for the majority of the year, he returned with The Last Slimeto stronger than ever. Even though the album included more than 30 songs, he still had more fire in the tank for the months that followed.
On December 23, NBA Youngboy released Lost Files to cap off an extraordinarily fruitful year. Despite minimal forewarning or promotion, the record managed to sell 18K copies in its first week.

However, it appears that NBA Youngboy’s 2022 campaign was just a prelude to great things to come in 2019. The rapper announced over the weekend that this week will see the release of a new body of work. He will release his next album, I Rest My Case, on Friday, January 6th. Akademiks provided the cover art.
Although there is little information on what to anticipate, it seems that NBA Youngboy will release new music nonstop throughout the year. The rapper, who has been signed to Atlantic Records since 2017, declared in October that he has completed his contract. It appears that his contractual responsibilities to Atlantic were fulfilled with the publication of The Last Slimeto.
NBA Youngboy signed a contract with Motown Records, a division of Universal Music Group, after that. Although he is familiar with the label, it will be intriguing to see how his career develops in the next years. For the Never Broke Again imprint, which features musicians including NoCap and Quando Rondo, he previously signed a contract with Motown.
I Rest My Case seems to be the first album to be released under his contract with Motown Records.
