Turkish defender Merif Demiral will auction his signed Cristiano Ronaldo Juventus shirt to raise funds for earthquake victims in Turkey.
An estimated 5,000 people died in the natural disaster, according to the Guardian.
Demiral and Ronaldo were teammates during their time at Juventus. The defender, who currently plays for Serie A Atalanta, wrote on Twitter:
“I just spoke with @Cristiano. He said that he was very sad about what happened in Turkey. We are auctioning Ronaldo’s signed jersey in my collection. All proceeds from the auction will be used in the earthquake zone. @ahbap will be donated.”
Cristiano Ronaldo made 134 appearances for Juventus, scoring 101 goals and 22 assists, while Demiral played 32 times in his career.
What did Cristiano Ronaldo say approximately his time at Juventus?
Cristiano Ronaldo won three consecutive UEFA Champions League championships with Los Blancos before leaving Real Madrid to join Juventus. But the star forward appears to have a soft spot in his heart for the Bianconeri.
Ronaldo recently discussed his career’s most noteworthy moments in an interview with Livescore. Regarding one such case, he stated (according to Football Italia):
“I scored a header against Donnarumma. When you win a title it’s all special because during the year you dedicate yourself to achieving something great. When you get your first trophy in a team it is always special. This one with Juventus is a great memory.”
He further added:
“For me, Juventus was a different journey in my life. I signed at the age of 33, opening a new chapter after being at Real Madrid for nine years.”
Cristiano Ronaldo will leave Juventus in 2021 and return to their youth club Manchester United. But the fairy tale revival came to a bitter end.
He left the Red Devils after mutually expiring his contract on November 22. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has since moved to Saudi Arabian club Al Nasr as a free agent. He scored his first goal for the club against Alfate.
